Judy Finnigan's daughter has warned Twitter trolls who threaten her with rape that they will be reported to police.
Chloe Madeley came out in defence of her TV star mother, who drew criticism this week when she said footballer and convicted rapist Ched Evans' attack was "non-violent" and did not cause "bodily harm".
Her remarks during a panel discussion on ITV show Loose Women were followed by threats against her daughter by some Twitter users.
Miss Madeley, 27, has now written in the Daily Mail of her horror at the online abuse.
She said her father would be reporting the tweeters to police and said: "How can it be right for someone to issue a rape threat to a young woman and think it acceptable?"
On Wednesday, Richard Madeley tweeted that "prosecution awaits" trolls.
Finnigan apologised "unreservedly" for causing any offence after the show, in which she said the former Sheffield United player's victim had "far too much to drink" before the attack.
A number of viewers voiced their anger about her choice of words during her debut on the programme.
"I absolutely wasn't suggesting that rape was anything other than an horrendous crime and, as I said on the programme, I was in no way attempting to minimise the terrible ordeal that any woman suffers as a result," Finnigan said.
"The point I was attempting to raise as part of the debate was what should happen to someone after they have committed a crime and served their time?"
Evans is due to be released from prison this week after serving two and a half years of a five-year sentence.
In April 2012 he was found guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court of raping a 19-year-old girl.
He has been linked with a return to his former club Sheffield United, although the club's board is believed to still be discussing whether to take him back.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has said the club's owners should "think really long and hard" before deciding whether to allow the sportsman to play for them again.
Mr Clegg, who is a Sheffield MP, said footballers were role models to youngsters and that should "weigh heavily" on the club's owners.
More than 146,000 people have signed a petition against his re-employment. Evans has always maintained his innocence.
